The Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information & Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar is looking for young, enthusiastic, dynamic and fresh Post-Graduate with minimum First Class in Masters in Library and Information Science from a recognized university to serve as Library Trainees for its Resource Centre (Library) purely on a temporary basis for one year.

The Resource Centre has fully computerized in-house operations and services and provides access to a wide variety of digital collections catering to the needs of the Faculty, Staff and Students. Several new initiatives are being taken from time to time to make this library as one of the leading edge resource libraries in the area of ICT in the country. It is a part of regional & national consortia and actively participates in resource sharing activities.

The Resource Centre is kept open till midnight on all working days during the semester and is also open on holidays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Nature of Trainee ship: 

Trainees will be provided with an opportunity to learn practical and operational aspects of all sections of the Resource Centre and learn the modern library management techniques and web-based services. The Resource Centre provides a highly professional learning environment. The selected candidates will have ample opportunities to learn about emerging IT tools and technologies.

The traineeship is for one year and selected candidates will have to undergo practical training from Monday-Saturday (six days a week) in different shifts and weekends on a rotation basis. They will get a fixed stipend of Rs.22,000/- per month all-inclusive and casual leave.

Selection Criterion: 

• Consistent academic record & satisfactory performance in the personal interview.

• Candidates are requested to bring with them the documents in support of date of birth, qualifications, and experiences, if any (original & one set of photocopy). 
• No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for attending the interview.
• Candidates who are expecting their MLISc final year examination results before the test & interview date may also apply. The selected candidates must produce the final mark sheet within one month from the announcement of results.

Qualification & Experience:

Essential:

Candidate must have First Class Masters in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc) or equivalent degree from a recognized university with consistent good academic record. Should have valid score of UGC NET/JRF and a minimum of one year experience in developing and managing digital repository for Institution Research Publications and knowledge of entire range of activities carried out at each stage of scholarly communication. The experience in collection, management and analysis of research publications using various bibliometric, scientometric, altmetric and other recent and widely accepted tools used for measuring the impact of research work will be an added advantage. Also, the candidate having experience in promoting research output of an organization using various platforms, tools, technologies etc. to give a required visibility to the research work will be preferred. Candidates should have a proven expertise in using DSpace- an open-source software and the workflow for creating and managing digital content.

Desirable:

•  Basic knowledge of copyright, licensing, Creative Commons
•  Good written and oral communication skills
•  Knowledge of Open Access publishing
•  Knowledge of digital marketing/promotion of information

IIT Gandhinagar, an Institute of national importance, is setting up an Archive to put-together the Institute’s important documents (physical & digital) to serve as Institute’s memory/records for the future. The Institute Archive intends to identify, collect, organize, describe, preserve, and provide access to accurate, authentic, and complete records of the life of the Institute.

To help create and manage the archive by following set standards, guidelines, best practices as well as adopting specialized tools and technologies, the Institute invites applications for the following position from experienced, motivated, and skilled professionals having deep interest in documenting and archiving both physical and digital content.

Name of post : Senior Project Associate (on contract basis only)

Duration of Appointment: One year (extendable two to three years)

Minimum/Essential Qualifications

• Experience in developing and managing special collections, creating digital repository and management of entire range of Life Cycle of Digital Library Materials.

Desired Skills

• •         Demonstrated knowledge of digitization best practices and standards
• •         Proficiency in at least one of the Institutional Repository and Library Management Software along with hands-on of required software tools.
