• At least 13 years as Deputy Librarian in a University Library or 18 years experience as a University / National Institute / College Librarian of which at least 3 years shall be as Deputy Librarian. 
• OR 
• M.Phil / Ph.D Degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation / Archives & Manuscript keeping with 10 years experience as a University / National Institute / 
• College Librarian of which at least 3 years shall be as Deputy Librarian. Desirable: Evidence of innovation in Library services & organization of published work.
