Essential Educational Qualification
- Graduate or equivalent examination recognized by UGC with degree or diploma in Library Science recognized by the NCTE / Government
- Working knowledge of Hindi written in Devnagari script and knowledge of Rajasthani culture.

Scheme and Syllabus of Competitive Examination for the Post of Librarian Grade-II
The examination shall carry 400 marks, with two papers of 200 marks each.
PAPER I: General Knowledge
The question paper will carry a maximum of 200 marks, with a duration of 2:00 hours and 100 multiple-choice questions. Negative marking for incorrect answers applies.
- Geographical, Historical, Cultural, and general knowledge of Rajasthan.
- Current Affairs of Rajasthan.
- General knowledge of the world and India.
- Educational Psychology.
Paper-II: Knowledge Organization, Information Processing, and Retrieval
This paper also carries a maximum of 200 marks, with a 2:00-hour duration and 100 multiple-choice questions. Negative marking applies as in Paper I.

Bibliographic Description, Catalog Purpose, Structure, and Types; Physical Forms Including OPAC; Filing Rules. Normative Principles of Cataloging; Overview of Principles of Practice in Document Description; Current Trends in Standardization, Description, and Exchange; Standard Code of Cataloging.
Methods of Knowledge Organization. General Theory of Library Classification; Normative Principles of Classification and Their Applications; Species of Library Classification; Standard Schemes of Classification and Their Features; CC, DDC, UDC; Notation: Need, Functions, Characteristics; Design and Development of Schemes of Library Classification; Standard Sub-Division Index; Trends in Library Classification.
